Deutsche Bahn AG Contest – Winners are determined now

Last week has been really exciting for all of the community, the ideas got countless last minute ratings before Deutsche Bahn AG’s Sustainability Contest was closed on Friday at midnight. It took jovoto’s team most of the weekend to check if everything was running smoothly.

Today we spent the whole morning discussing how to proceed and we agreed that manipulative ratings shouldn’t be taken into account for the final contest results. Those questionable votes aside, we reloaded the ranking and were actually surprised: the overall changes were minor – due to many, many votes given by most platform users in this contest that helped determining the winners in a fair way!

And here’s the lucky winner: Peperoni with his idea “Growing Together”

Congratulations to Peperoni and all of the 11 other winners in this contest!

First of all: Congratulations Peperoni. It is a good Idea and well done.
But about the manipulations I think the jovoto team has to intervene a lot earlier. I do not think it helps to exclude the manipulations only at the end. I would prefer a system that will not show exactly the ratings through the contest or the rating begins to count after the submitting phase. Think abaut it.

@pid – You are right about this one, we should/ have to run our little program which identifies manipulation more often. Because of some hundred recently invited users manipulation is more than every before an issue. But not as bad as you might think.
As far as I see cheating is nearly impossible. Not only are a few thousand votes by brave community members a quiet tough ’security’-level to breach but also our little program just needs seconds to identify idea-bashing and manipulation. But anyways … those who do have too much time can play around with it if they have nothing better to do, but they risk as well that none of their ratings counts at all.
Last week we sat together and discussed some rating improvements which will be applied during the next three weeks. Stay tuned!

Interesting to know would be what DB feels about the ideas of their contest.

@pid: As soon as we get feedback from Deutsche Bahn AG we will of course inform the community right away!
